How the proposals fit with the Slyfield development objectives

• Create a central focus to the residential neighbourhood
A permanent home for football in the borough would be an excellent focal point for the community.

• Use materials common to Guildford to define the local character
The ground could use local materials to become one of the most architecturally interesting modern buildings in the town.

• Create an identifiable landmark entrance to the commercial estate.
A development of this nature could be a hugely recognisable feature within Guildford.

• Provide car parking areas that do not dominate the street scene and prevent on street parking
The club’s car park would be available for use throughout the week, reducing the number of cars in residential areas. This could also operate as part of a park and ride scheme.

• Minimise the impact on the existing local highway network of additional traffic
The club would integrate with local transport companies to provide improved public transit to and from the ground.

• Support the provision of ‘green waste’ management facilities
The ground would accommodate a ’Community Recycling Centre’.

• Use renewable energy sources to provide at least 10% of energy needs • Minimise water usage
Solar panels and the re-use of rain water will provide much of the energy and water needed for the development.

• Promote the inclusion of recycling facilities within the development • Reduce energy use whenever possible
A large amount of the club’s waste is already recycled, and this effort would be increased.

• Ensuring protection of habitats
With a large number of trees to be placed around the development, this will keep habitats safe for years to come.

• Provide new community facilities
A large number of sporting facilities would be provided that also contribute to the long term self-sufficiency of the club. By ensuring complete accessibility within the building, the club hopes to include all of the local community.

and finally, to ”Protect Guildford’s diverse heritage”
