• Dartford FC - 'Prince's Park' (more)
Widely regarded as the best non-league football ground in the country, Dartford’s home was built in 2006.

The ground has an overall capacity of around 4,000 - with almost 700 of those offered comfortable covered seating in the excellent grandstand.

Aside from the attractive wooden exterior, the ground has a living roof that provides a natural air filtration system; solar panels on the roof serve the community changing areas and public toilets; and a water recycling system serves the club toilets.

The ground was built as a gift from the local Conservative council after years without a permanent home in the town. The ground has won many awards for its design. A notable reduction in youth crime has been attributed to the provision of community sport facilities.

• Horley Town FC - 'The New Defence' (more)
Nearby Horley boast one of the finest grounds at their level of football.

The 2,000 capacity stadium has a small 130 seater stand built into the clubhouse. This ground was built as a new development in 2003, and Horley have become the envy of most clubs in Surrey.

Only a small footprint is required, leaving just enough room for expansion should the need arise.

The bar and function room continues to serve the community, and is used as a focal point for the development of sport for all ages in the town. The main club room is also accessible by lift to cater for supporters unable to climb stairs.

An example to be followed, and one that shows the shameful dearth of facilities in Guildford.

•Eastleigh RFC - 'The Hub' (more)
The modern home of Eastleigh Rugby Club is a purpose built centre that encompasses a function room and bar upstairs, with a gym and changing areas below. This is the most similar example of what the Slyfield development would require if a collaboration with Guildford Amateur Boxing and Table Tennis clubs was feasible.

The local area has seen a significant upturn in sporting participation following completition of the new building.

•Southampton FC - 'Staplewood Training Complex' (more)
An example of a high quality facility used by a profesisonal football team. The plans to redevelop Southampton's training ground include this attractive modern building, pictured.
